GILBERT, Ariz. - After winning the second matchup between the No. 1 and No. 2-ranked teams in the nation this season, Shippensburg moved back into the top spot in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Coaches Poll on Tuesday.
Shippensburg defeated East Stroudsburg by a 4-1 final on Wednesday to jump past the Warriors and take the No. 1 ranking. The reverse happened on Sept. 6 when East Stroudsburg defeated Shippensburg 2-0 and later claimed the No. 1 ranking it held for three weeks. Shippensburg took the top spot in this week's poll with 215 points and 18 first-place votes, while East Stroudsburg came in at No. 2.
Saint Anselm, still undefeated at 10-0, moved up one spot to No. 3 while LIU Post slid one place to No. 4. Slippery Rock entered the poll this week all the way at No. 5, which it shared with West Chester. No. 7 Pace, No. 8 Limestone, No. 9 Bloomsburg and No. 10 Millersville completed the ranking.

There are five matchups between top-10 teams on this week's schedule, and three of those come right away on Tuesday with No. 1 Shippensburg at No. 5 West Chester, No. 9 Bloomsburg at No. 2 East Stroudsburg and No. 7 Pace at No. 4 LIU Post. LIU Post goes to West Chester on Thursday, while on Saturday Shippensburg will play at the other No. 5-ranked squad when it visits Slippery Rock.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, October 10. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches, and has no bearing on selection to the 2017 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.
