GILBERT, Ariz. - Despite suffering its first loss of the season last week, East Stroudsburg maintained the No. 1 ranking in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Coaches Poll announced on Tuesday.
The Warriors opened the season with a perfect five-game homestand where they defeated four ranked opponents, but fell in their first road contest at LIU Post on Thursday. ESU took the No. 1 spot in a very competitive top five of the poll by notching 200 points and seven first-place votes. Shippensburg, which fell at ESU two weeks ago, came in at No. 2 with 186 points and five first-place votes while West Chester was right behind at No. 3 with 181 points and six first-place votes. LIU Post rose four places to No. 4 with 175 points and four first-place votes, while Saint Anselm came in at No. 5 with 140 points and a first-place vote.
The rest of the ranking featured No. 6 Millersville, No. 7 Bloomsburg, No. 8 Pace, a new entrant this week, No. 9 Kutztown and No. 10 Merrimack. For the full listing of teams and point totals, view the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll
