GILBERT, Ariz. - Messiah added two more victories to its lengthy winning streak last week and maintained its hold on the No. 1 ranking in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Coaches Poll announced on Tuesday.
The Falcons are off to a 7-0 start this season and have a 29-game winning streak that dates back to last year. Messiah captured 987 points and 43 first-place votes to claim the top spot ahead of undefeated Babson, which was once again at No. 2 with 929 points and six first-place votes. Filling out the top five were No. 3 Salisbury, No. 4 The College of New Jersey and No. 5 Montclair State.
The rest of the top 10 consisted of No. 6 Tufts, No. 7 Middlebury, No. 8 Amherst, No. 9 Hamilton and No. 10 Skidmore. Franklin & Marshall came in at No. 11, with Bowdoin at No. 12, Williams at No. 13, MIT at No. 14 and Christopher Newport at No. 15. MIT rose all the way from outside the rankings to grab the No. 14 position. The remainder of the poll include No. 16 Kean, No. 17 Mary Washington, No. 18 Rochester, No. 19 Ursinus and No. 20 William Smith.

Six games between top-20 teams dot this week's schedule, beginning with three over the next two days. No. 8 Amherst plays at No. 14 MIT on Tuesday, while on Wednesday top-ranked Messiah hosts No. 11 Franklin & Marshall and No. 7 Middlebury entertains No. 10 Skidmore. Saturday's action includes No. 3 Salisbury at No. 15 Christopher Newport and No. 6 Tufts at No. 8 Amherst. Tufts has another top-10 road matchup on Sunday as it visits No. 9 Hamilton.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, October 3.
