GILBERT, Ariz. — After six weeks and 13 wins, the University of North Carolina continues their reign at the top of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. Last weekend, the Tar Heels continued their perfect record with two decisive wins over No. 16 Wake Forest University and No. 19 Liberty University. This week, they will face conference opponent No. 12 Boston College and No. 5 University of Connecticut.
Following closely behind the Tar Heels are the University of Maryland Terrapins who rank second in this week's poll. Despite a loss to No. 6 Penn State University this past weekend, the Terps still have a strong hold on second place with a 13-1 record.
Another upset win prompted Princeton University to move into third place this week — they defeated No. 5 University of Connecticut, 5-2, on Sunday.
This coming weekend promises to be another exciting one in the Division I field hockey world — 10 games will feature two top-25 teams. You can follow the results of those games and all Division I contests on nfhca.org.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2018 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
