NFHCA announces 2018 Spiideo/NFHCA Division III Regional Coaching Staffs of the Year awards

GILBERT, Ariz. — Six staffs have been recognized as their region's Spiideo/NFHCA Coaching Staff of the Year.

The NFHCA recognizes each institution's coaches but acknowledges all of the important staff members that make each program successful.

Great Lakes Region

Denison University

P.J. Soteriades, Kellie Jasinski

Denison University finished the season 18-3 and won their second-consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament Championship. This year, the Big Red made its 13th NCAA Championship Tournament appearance. Their roster touts 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Great Lakes Region Player of the Year, Michelle Kabaira, two 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Americans and three 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Great Lakes All-Region honorees. The 2018 season was Soteriades' 18th at Denison and it was the second season for Janinski.

New England East Region

Smith College

Jaime Ginsburg, Brooke Marshall, Katy Jankura

Smith College finished the season 15-8 and captured the program's first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship. The Pioneers earned their program's third NCAA Championship Tournament bid this year and earned a place in the second round of the tournament for the first time since 1983. Smith's roster features 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-American, Beatrice Chaudoin and two 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III New England East All-Region honorees. The 2018 season was the 12th season for Ginsburg, the second for Marshall and the first for Jankura.

New England West Region

Middlebury College

Katharine DeLorenzo, Rachel Palumbo, Lauren Schweppe, Andrea Way

The Middlebury College Panthers finished the season 21-1 and won their second-straight NCAA National Championship. The Panthers also earned their second-straight, and sixth overall, New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship. The Middlebury roster is highlighted by 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA New England West Region Player of the Year, Erin Nicholas, three 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Americans and four 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III New England West All-Region honorees. The 2018 season was the 18th for DeLorenzo, the first for Palumbo and Schweppe, and the fifth for Way. 

North Atlantic Region

Vassar College

Michael Warari

Vassar College finished the season 18-2 and claimed the program's first Liberty League Championship this year. Vassar earned a berth to the second round of the NCAA Championship Tournament — their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Vassar's roster features 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA North Atlantic Region Player of the Year and 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III First-Team All-American, Monica Feeley, as well as three 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III North Atlantic All-Region honorees. The 2018 season was the sixth for Warari.

South Atlantic Region

Rowan University

Michelle Andre, Rhonda Bennett, Melissa Cunningham, Erin Small

The Rowan University Profs finished the season with a 22-1 record and a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship. The Profs celebrated their 19th trip to the NCAA Championship Tournament this year as well as their first trip to the NCAA semifinals since 2002 — the team also broke the school record for most wins which was previously set in 2002 at 21 wins. The Rowan roster is highlighted by Elite 90 award winner, Casey Wagner, 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA South Atlantic Region Player of the Year, Rachel Galante, two 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Americans, and five 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III South Atlantic All-Region honorees. The 2018 season was the fourth for Andre, the 14th for Bennett, the first for Cunningham and the third for Small.

South Region

Johns Hopkins University

Jane Wells, Merritt Davis, Britt Walker

The Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays finished the season at 19-3 and as Centennial Conference champions. The Blue Jays earned a berth to the NCAA Championship Tournament — their ninth appearance — and advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the first time in program history. Their 19 wins this season set a new school record. The Hopkins roster is highlighted by 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA South Region Player of the Year, Grace Hillman, two 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Americans, and four 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III South All-Region honorees. The 2018 season was the second for Wells, Davis and Walker.
