Mules, Nicks named Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division III Weekly Award winners

GILBERT, Ariz. — Laurel Nicks, junior goalkeeper from No. 20 University of Lynchburg, and Hailey Mules, senior forward from Rhodes College, have been named this week's Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Laurel Nicks, University of Lynchburg, Jr., Goalkeeper (Yorktown, Virginia)

Nicks posted two shutouts last week for No. 20 University of Lynchburg. Nicks and the Lynchburg defense kept conference rival Randolph-Macon College off the board in the Hornets' 2-0 win on Friday. Then on Sunday, Nicks turned away six shots to keep then-No. 12 Christopher Newport University scoreless as Lynchburg went on to win the contest 1-0.

Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

Hailey Mules, Rhodes College, Sr., Forward (Baltimore, Maryland)

Mules recorded twelve points in her record-breaking performance for the Rhodes College Lynx last week. In two games against Sewanee: The University of the South, Mules scored five goals and two assists. Mules recorded the game-winning goal and an assist in the conference matchup on Saturday before earning a point in each goal on Sunday in Rhodes' 5-1 victory.

Mules was named the Southern Athletic Association Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.
