GILBERT, Ariz. — Belly Reynoso, freshman goalkeeper from No. 11 Kean University, and Rachel Hopkins, senior forward/midfielder from Worcester State University, have been named this week's Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.
NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week
Belly Reynoso, Kean University, Fr., Goalkeeper (Manalapan, New Jersey)
Last week, Reynoso made 11 saves for No. 11 Kean University in their two wins over conference opponents. Last Tuesday, Reynoso made three saves against No. 20 Montclair State University to secure a 3-0 shutout. Then on Saturday, she made eight saves — including stopping a penalty stroke — in the 3-1 victory over then-No. 4 Rowan University.
Reynoso was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Hopkins, Worcester State University, Sr., Forward/Midfielder (Chelmsford, Massachusetts)
Hopkins had two big games for the Lancers this week, recording five goals and an assist for 11 points in a pair of Little East Conference wins. Hopkins opened the week with a two-goal performance against the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday before scoring a hat trick with an assist against Framingham State University on Saturday.
Hopkins was named Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Savanna Lenker, Ithaca College, Sr., Goalkeeper (Camp Hill, Pennsylvania)
Lenker played an important role in Ithaca College's upset win over then-No. 5 Vassar College last week. Lenker posted seven saves to secure the 3-0 shutout, making four of her seven total saves in the final 13 minutes of the game. Lenker continues to rank among the Liberty League's best, her 1.100 goals against average tops the league, while her .833 save percentage is tied for second.
Lenker was named Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week.
