Hanshaw, Veenstra named Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Weekly Award winners

GILBERT, Ariz. — Kerri Hanshaw, senior goalkeeper from No. 4 Kutztown University, and Celeste Veenstra, sophomore forward from No. 2 East Stroudsburg University, have been named this week's Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Kerri Hanshaw, Kutztown University, Sr., Goalkeeper (Collegeville, Pennsylvania)

Hanshaw recorded a shutout last week after 80 minutes of play and a shootout series in the first-round of the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament for No. 4 Kutztown University. Hanshaw kept a clean slate as she faced six shots over the course of the double-overtime game against No. 5 Southern New Hampshire University. Then in shootouts, she stopped three attempts from the Penmen to propel the Golden Bears to their second NCAA postseason win in program history.

This is the second Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week honor for Hanshaw this season.

Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week

Celeste Veenstra, East Stroudsburg University, So., Forward (Alkmaar, The Netherlands)

Veenstra was essential offensively last week in No. 2 East Stroudsburg University's first-round NCAA game against No. 7 Assumption College. In the 1-0 victory that sent the Warriors to the NCAA Field Hockey Championship Tournament semifinal, Veenstra recorded the game-winning and lone goal of the 1-0 win.

This is the second Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week honor for Veenstra this season.
